Throughout the weekend (Friday–Sunday morning), you will have the opportunity to visit the campsites of General Lee and General Grant at the RB&W District Park. General Lee and General Grant will share stories and explain what life was like during the Civil War era.
9:30am to 4pm – Experience the sights and sounds of Civil War artillery with Taylors Battery who will present an engaging program explaining their role during the Civil War. Watch as they demonstrate original artillery pieces, show how equipment was transported, and share the daily life of soldiers — all while dressed in authentic period uniforms. Families are welcome to take free photos and enjoy this hands-on living history experience.
9:30am to 4pm – Meet Major Richard Conover, portrayed by Ron Kirchgessner, Surgeon for the 108th Illinois Infantry Field Hospital, as he presents a fascinating display of medical instruments used during the Civil War. Discover the tools, techniques, and challenges faced by field surgeons while caring for soldiers on the front lines—an educational and engaging glimpse into wartime medicine.
10am to 3pm – We are thrilled to announce that President Abraham Lincoln (Kevin Wood) will be joining us! Get ready to meet “Honest Abe” in person. President Lincoln will be mingling with attendees, answering your questions, and even posing for photos!
11am – Come enjoy the rich harmonies of the Rock Valley Barbershop Chorus as they perform two patriotic favorites at the RB&W amphitheater!
1pm – At the RB&W amphitheater will be the reading of the Declaration of Independence. Following the reading, President Lincoln will do a speech “Abraham Lincoln: A New Birth of Freedom”, perfect for all ages. Learn about his life and the history of the USA—from Independence to the Civil War—as he brings Lincoln to life right before your eyes. Also we will hear speeches by both General Lee and General Grant.
3pm – River Country Stomp at the RB&W amphitheater.
11am to 3pm – The Rock Falls American Legion and Flipside Coffee & Expresso Bar will have food and drinks available for purchase.
7pm – Rock River Jazz Band will have a concert playing some of your favorite patriotic music at the RB&W amphitheater.
