Historical Presentation: The Most Successful Homegrown Entrepreneur from the Sterling-Dixon Area
Join us as nationally known historian and author Tom Wadsworth returns to the Sterling-Rock Falls Historical Society to present the remarkable story of George Ham Page of Palmyra—arguably the most successful homegrown entrepreneur in the history of the Sterling-Dixon area.
George Page’s vision and determination helped build one of the world’s largest condensed milk companies, leaving a legacy that can still be seen today through Page Park, Page Drive, and Dixon’s famous condensed milk factory. Discover how a young man from rural Lee County rose to international business success and made a lasting impact on our region and beyond.
Tom Wadsworth is a nationally recognized speaker and author who holds two master’s degrees and a Ph.D. Since 2023, he has written local history columns for the Sterling Gazette and the Dixon Telegraph. His engaging presentations have been enjoyed by audiences throughout northwestern Illinois, and his latest book, Distinctive Dixon: Fascinating Stories of Dixon’s Rich History, is now in its third printing.
Whether you’re interested in local history, business, genealogy, or simply enjoy a great story, this is a presentation you won’t want to miss.
